Ajay Khatta, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Dehra Organizational District President, has raised serious questions over the actions of the Jawalamukhi administration following the Municipal Council elections. He alleged that BJP supporters and supporters of Pooja Dugar are being selectively targeted and harassed after the election results.
Khatta said that victory and defeat are a normal part of democracy and that the BJP had accepted the election outcome gracefully. However, he claimed that actions are now being carried out with a sense of political vendetta.
He further alleged that a fruit shop belonging to Ravi Kumar, located near Gate No. 3 in Jawalamukhi, was vandalized and goods inside the shop were destroyed. Calling it an attack on the livelihood of a poor man, Khatta said that every citizen has the constitutional right to earn a living with dignity.
The BJP leader questioned the Jawalamukhi administration, asking under whose pressure local officials were functioning. BJP leaders have reportedly lodged a complaint at the police station and also met the SDM regarding the issue. Khatta stated that the SDM listened to their concerns seriously and expressed hope that future actions would be fair and impartial.
Warning against continued targeting of BJP supporters, Khatta said party workers would not remain silent if such incidents continued. He remarked that although the BJP may have lost the Municipal Council election, “the battle is still not over.”
He urged the administration to work impartially instead of functioning under political pressure. While supporting the city’s beautification efforts, Khatta argued that selectively targeting a few shops was unjustified. He warned that if the situation continued, BJP workers would strongly oppose the administration’s actions.
